  • NEIWPCC in the NEWS: The Commission’s success with a regional approach to training is spotlighted in a May 20, 2009, feature article in Water and Wastewater News.
  • NEIWPCC, in partnership with the New York-New Jersey Harbor Estuary Program, is requesting proposals for organizing public access events, developing habitat restoration plans, and stewardship projects. Download the New York-New Jersey Harbor Estuary Program RFPs here.
  • NEIWPCC is seeking applicants to develop a GIS-based site selection and prioritization process for stewardship efforts in the Long Island Sound Watershed. Please visit the Long Island Sound Study CCMP Enhancement Grants Program web page to download the Request for Proposals. Proposals are due by July 10, 2009.
  • National Honor: NEIWPCC Executive Director Ronald Poltak has received a 2009 Public Service Award from the National Association of Clean Water Agencies. Learn more about this tribute to his work on behalf of environmental protection and wastewater management.
  • Regional Tribute: On April 22, NEIWPCC’s Beth Card and Susy King received 2009 Environmental Merit Awards from EPA New England for their work in developing the Northeast Regional Mercury TMDL. Read about the awards and the work that inspired this important recognition.
  • In the latest issue of NEIWPCC’s Interstate Water Report: an inside look at the MWRA’s South Boston CSO Tunnel, a threat called rock snot, ways to save energy at water and wastewater plants, and much more.
  • New From NEIWPCC: The Northeast Guide for Estimating Staffing at Publicly and Privately Owned Wastewater Treatment Plants. This guide, which includes charts that allow users to estimate the number of operators needed to perform a plant’s tasks, is now available for download.
  • In an unprecedented approach, NEIWPCC, on behalf of its member states, has filed a petition under the Clean Water Act asking EPA to convene a conference to develop an agreement to reduce mercury deposition in the Northeast from out-of-region sources. More information on our mercury web page.
